I moved to Baltimore 5 days ago to become a nanny for one of the most precious children I have ever met. If you know me, you know how much I love kids, but you also know that it is so not like me to step out of my comfort zone and just up and decide to move across the country. I honestly can't tell you what led me to this move other than the fact that this opportunity just fell into my lap after my other plans fell through.
When I accepted this nanny position, I had been rejected from speech pathology school. Saying that I was disappointed is putting it lightly. I was devastated, bitter, and heartbroken. I couldn't understand why God would deny me this? I had good grades, never skipped class, researched the field, and observed SLPs in almost every setting imaginable. Needless to say, I did not cope with rejection well. But after weeks and weeks of crying to God, my parents, my friends and professors, I had finally accepted that maybe it just wasn't meant to be, maybe the timing was off, maybe it wasn't what the Lord had in store for my life.
Two days before my 23rd birthday, I was at my house packing for my upcoming move when I got a phone call that turned my life upside down. On the other end of the line was someone from the graduate admissions office at Tennessee State telling me that I had gotten into school. Within two days after that phone call, I had gone to Nashville and toured the program, found two roommates, signed a lease, and shortened my move to Baltimore from a year to the summer. It's so obvious to me now what God was trying to teach me during these past couple of months. He was teaching me to wait patiently, to trust in him, and to be OK with the uncertainties that life brings.
I am so blessed and I take so much for granted, yet God continues to bless me when I doubt him and become consumed with the stresses of everyday life. God is so good!! He is so faithful and just. So WHY do we ever doubt his love for us and his plans for our life?
